Manufacturing

The production of the glasses, from the initial project to the cleaning by hand of each sample.

Design and Planning

Our technical department consists of highly qualified personnel and boasts extensive experience gained over the years. It proposes solutions to customer needs using the latest software, like Catia, Rhinoceros, Cimatron, Mastercam and Siemens NX. From the designer’s simple sketch unique one of a kind products are created. In the design-planning phase the needs of the consumer are identified, therefore excellent products are created that are able to satisfy any imagination.

Mechanical Workshop

The constant technological research and continuous investments in 50 years of work have resulted in our workshop becoming a force to be reckoned with for the creation of new products (eyewear and components).

For several years now Omas has invested in a new milling department, constantly kept at the forefront with numerical control machines of up to 5 axles. For the milling of plastic Cms Industries and Brother and for metal the CNC Chiron. With this technology we are able to produce internally unique and personalized elements that normally, due to quantity, complexity and timing, would be impossible to industrialize by external suppliers (e.g. machined hinges, front end pieces, etc.) and to mill many different types of material such as steel, nickel silver, brass, aluminium, acetate, carbon and wood.

OMAS customers can count on highly specialized skilled technicians in constructing all moulds and equipment required for a pair of glasses, be it metal or acetate. Our technicians are able, even from a design to make a risk analysis of the project, thanks to their awareness and knowledge of any problems and issues that may possibly arise in the product.

The construction of all tooling, molds and equipment for the manufacture of our glasses is made inside our plant. This enables Omas to optimize the timing and work to be in perfect harmony with the demands of our customers in all phases of engineering, from the prototype to the finished pair of glasses.

The Milling department can boast a range of high precision machinery

  • 5 center axle CNC CMS industries
  • 5 center axle CNC Chiron
  • Vertical work center Haas
  • CNC Brother center with changeable pallet
  • High speed Milling machines Yasda 640 e Hermle CU22
  • Lathes
  • Manual milling machines
  • Electrical discharge machining Sodick inline motors
  • Electrical discharge machining Agie U1

Presses and Welding

In the presses department, by constantly monitoring components, Omas, is able to inspect the production in aesthetic quality and dimensional precision. The staff are instructed to check components at every single stage using the appropriate measuring instruments

  • Coining presses from 30 to 300 tonnes
  • Cutters from 4 to 25 tons
  • Hammering machine with 5 component heads

All welding takes place within our department with induction welders. Welding equipment guides are made from a fixed single block to ensure repeatability, consistency and perfection.

Electroplating and Powder Coating

In 2013 Omas Srl acquired a company operating in the sector of galvanic treatments, expanding technologies and horizons. In this way, the company has been able to manage the delicate phase of electroplating and the coating of their glasses, investing significant resources in the technological processes and the human skills.

Thanks to the engagement of a large number of professionals working in the field for decades, we can guarantee to our customers and for our products themselves treatments of ruthenium gilding, gold gilding and palladium plating at various microns, the very highest level in the context of glasses worldwide.

The ability to manage this phase on our own also allows us to optimize and to achieve an excellent qualitative standard in a later phase of solvent-based painting, achieved by using products and cutting-edge machinery in the field of industrial painting.

To guarantee the qualitative continuity of this phase, Omas have created a specific internal department to check the colorimetric analysis and the thickness of the coating, with dozens of samples analyzed carefully on a daily basis.

Finishing

In 2012 OMAS wanted to invest in a spacious and luminous new finishing department buying a building in the industrial area of Segusino. Here the final finishing of the glasses takes place: cleaning; wheel polishing, nose pad mounting, end tips, lenses, setting and packaging.

Quality control is done 100% in each of these steps thereby eliminating any defect that might be occurring in a previous phase. Having the entire production process internally of course guarantees our customers complete privacy and confidentiality with their products.

Since the end of 2020, the entire department has been moved to the upper floor of the new plant, making use of a large work area and facilitating the interaction and cooperation with the laser, lens cutting and shipping areas.
